Guitar Chord Charts for Beginners

When you first start to learn to play the guitar, its best to start with the common chords that are for the most part comfortable to finger.
I say mostly as there is one chord in particular that almost all beginners struggle with, the Fmajor.
A basic guitar chord chart will cover chords of the major, minor and dominant 7th variety . The most effective approach is to learn each chord as thoroughly as possible, and then work on changing smoothly between different chords. It is crucial to take things slowly to start with. If you try to rush learning the proper placement of your fingers on the strings and frets, your progress will be slower in the long run. A proper foundation in the absolute fundamentals is essential.
Please feel free to print out a copy of the basic guitar chord chart below. My suggested fingerings are different in some areas than those that tend to be commonly taught.
I feel that my fingerings allow for smoother changes further along the learning curve.
See my other articles and videos for further information about the reasons why.
